LATVIA, 3 MARCH 2015 – One of Latvia’s largest fur farms was forced to almost half its production this February due to the current weak economic climate of the fur industry. Baltic Devon Mink, which is part of the Van Ansem Group, had to lay-off more than 40 employees of its workforce of 138. According to a spokesperson of the company, the radical downsizing of the fur farm is an effect of the global weak economic situation. The fur industry is an increasingly unstable industry, both economically as politically, against which more and more countries are currently legislating.
