FRANCE, 2 JULY 2019 – Shocking new footage reveals horrific conditions on a French mink fur farm in Eure-et-Loire. The hideous images, published by Fur Free Alliance member organisation OneVoice, show fur farm battery cages littered with dead or dying mink, in the middle of faeces and decomposing bodies, sometimes mummified, over which the survivors crawl.
The One Voice investigators discovered the horrors on the Eure-et-Loire mink farm while checking which fur farms were still operating in France, with the aim to prepare the animal welfare mission at which the association participates with the Ministry of Ecology.
Faced with the atrocious conditions on the Eure-et-Loire farm, OneVoice decided to halt the investigation, to launch an immediate campaign that exposes the extreme cruelty in France and calls for an urgent ban on fur production. A complaint for acts of Cruelty is to be filed on July 1 against this breeder, SCEA des Aubépines.
The Eure-et-Loire fur factory farm is one of the five fur farms that are still running in France. All five fur farms are members of the French fur federation and are applying for Welfur certification.
On fur factory farms around the world, millions of raccoon dogs, rabbits, foxes, mink, chinchillas, and other animals spend their lives cramped in small wire cages, causing extreme animal suffering, only to be killed by anal electrocution, by neck-breaking, or in gas chambers. More and more countries in Europe and around the globe are introducing policies to ban fur.
